--- Spanish version of the email sent by Philippe on Friday about the
proposition item to the CSTD agenda ---

Dear Colegas,

Giving to pursuit to the consultation on the reform of the
Commission of Science and Technology for the development (CSTD in
ingles), of the 13 of February. We would like to know their point of
view on the possibility of proposing an additional subject to the
agenda of the Commission for their next session, with the purpose of
approaching the question of the results of the CMSI. This additional
subject to the agenda would be related directly to the pursuit of the
CMSI.

Resolution 1996/31 needs that an organization who counts on estatus
consultative with the ECOSOC can propose subjects to the provisional
agenda of some commission as it is the case of the CSTD. Other
modalities exist to introduce a new subject to the agenda of the
Commission, but this is the only form that would be to initiative of
the ONG.

This resolution 1996/31 demands that the Secretary General of the UN
informed at least 63 days before the beginning of the session of the
Commission (is to say not before the 12 of Marzo2006) with the purpose
of allowing him to make observations and the final proposal must be
sent formally with the necessary documentation to but taking 49 days
before the beginning of the session. The subject will be including a
the agenda if the two third parts of the present members and that have
voted have decided it thus.

By the previous thing we would like to know:

- if the civil society that has participated in the CMSI agrees in
which the pursuit of the CMSI is including this year in the agenda of
the session of the Commission

- the CONGO is arranged to make this request if we counted on
support by part hers. There is some other ONG (with estatus
consultative with the ECOSOC) that wishes to be united to this
proposal?

Envíenos its commentaries to wsis@ngocongo.org

Also we are going to discuss with the UNCTAD (secretariat of
the CSTD) on this possibility in this week.

The CONGO also is working on the possibility of a transitory
participation of the ONG credited to the CMSI that does not have
estatus consultative with ECOSOC during the next session of the
Commission (May 15-19 of 2006). As soon as we have greater information
on the process in this question we will be being been sending them.

Warm Greetings

Alejandra Mendoza Leon
